Preparing area for wildflowers and chocolate fruit kebabs

2pm to 4pm Saturday 20th October 2018 Nature Vibezzz ran a free family nature activity in Knights Hill Wood West Norwood Lambeth London. The activity involved preparing an area of the woodland which has been surround by a deadhedge for wildflower seed and bulb planting. Preparing the area involved removing unwanted plants, green waste and litter from the area. All the children and adults helped and the area is now ready for planting on a future activity.

Other activities for children included rope climbing, rope swing, colouring, making animal masks, playing around the woodland, litter picking, photography and bug hunting.

After all the hard work the participants whittled sticks using knifes and peelers for their fruit kebabs and chopped wood for making a fire to melt chocolate.  Once the sticks was prepared and the chocolate melted over the fire, everyone enjoyed their fruit chocolate treat.

Family activity in Knights Hill Wood

2pm to 4pm Saturday 13th October 2018 Nature Vibezzz ran a free family activity in Knights Hill Wood Lambeth London. The activity invloved clearing shrubs to increase light coming into the woods and help a wider range of native plants to grow. The pruned green waste material was used placed on a dead hedge made to protect a wildflower glade which will be planted on future tasks. Volunteers also litter picked the site.

Activities for children included learning to use a bow saw to prune dead trees, rope climbing, rope swing, colouring, bug hunting and photography.

The session finished with a healthy fruit snack an the next free family activity in Knights Hill Wood will be 2pm to 4pm Saturday 20th October 2018.

Free family activity session in woodland

2pm to 4pm Saturday 29th September 2018 Nature Vibezzz ran a free family nature activity in Knights Hill Wood, West Norwood, Lambeth.

The session invloved pruning trees to increase light into the site, helping increase biodiversity through encouraging a wider range of plants to grow and help make the woodland feel more safe for users. The pruned material was used to continue to build a dead hedge which will protect a wildflower glade which will be prepared and planted on future sessions.

Activities for children included making animal masks, drawing, making signs, climbing rope, rope swing, bug hunting, litter picking, photography and free play around the woodland site. Many of the children also helped with the tree pruning working together under adult supervision. The activity finished with a healthy fruit snack.

Next week the task will be run in TIvoli Park with Friends of Tivoli Park

Tivoli Park Orchard Care Afternoon: 2-4pm Saturday 6th October 2018

Adult tasks will include:

  1. Clear grass/weeds from immediate area around the base of each fruit tree
  2. Add mulch
  3. Cut/adjust some cages
  4. Label trees

and Nature Vibezzz shall run nature activities for children
